
FARMERS APOLOGISE TO GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA OVER ORE PROTEST
Some aggrieved farmers from Odigbo local government area who recently shut down the Ore-Benin-Lagos expressway have apologised to Ondo State Governor, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for the embarrassment it caused the state over the alleged taking over of their farmlands.
The farmers who visited the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture and Agribusiness, Mr Rotimi Akinsola, on Friday in Akure, also apologised to Ayo Sotinrin, MD, Bank of Agriculture
A private firm, SAO Agro-Allied Services Limited, is owned by Ayo Sotinrin, the managing director of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), who President Bola Tinubu recently appointed.
Chief Alex Olowoniyi Damilola, the Traditional Ruler of Alagbado in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state, appreciated the governor for scheduling the meeting with them (farmers) and the investor.
“I want to appreciate the governor for scheduling this peace meeting between us all, and we urge him not to be angry, and we have been reconciled, and we believe that the outcome will be favourable,” he said.
Chief Olojo Onileowo from Ondo West Local Government Area also appreciated the governor for the maturity used in handling the matter, and “we’re all ready to cooperate with the state government and the investor to achieve the desired outcome”.
Onileowo also appreciated the SSA to the governor for ensuring that peace is the order of the day between all parties.
“We are all working together for the same goal, which is to develop Ondo State. Everyone should work towards the same goal and not be angry with one another, all its for progress,” he said.
Also present at the event with the government entourage was Hon. Dimeji Abimbola, from Odigbo local government, who appreciated the farmers for allowing peace to reign.
Abimbola said he was happy that the dust had settled, which was good for all parties involved.
