
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT COMMENCES PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN OF ODE-IRELE IN ONDO STATE
Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced project for the physical development plan of Irele town in Ondo state to meet global development plan of other developed cities around the world.
The Federal Controller of Housing in the state, Mrs Morohunfola Yetunde made this known while leading the Consultant for the project and the team from Federal Ministry of Works and Housing on a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in his office in Akure, the state capital.
Mrs Morohunfola, who stated that the team was in the state to kickstart the project in Irele, also stated that Ondo and Yobe states are the only two states selected by the Federal government to benefit from the project in the ongoing fiscal year.
In her remarks, the Coordinator of the project, Mrs Chinwende James lauded the Federal government for embarking on development plan of the town which she said is the second one to be done by the Federal government after Okitipupa town, stressing that the project would not only enhance the socioeconomic analysis and physical development of the town but also decongest over population been experienced in most of the state capitals.
Mrs Chinwende noted that the project when completed within the next sixteen weeks would afford the government to identify and determine choice areas for specific development programmes, while also pledging that all relevant stakeholders in the state would be involved in the execution of the project.
In his response, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Oluwagbenga Akingbasote mni reiterated the commitment of the present administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to modern physical planning and urban development of towns and cities in the state with the approval for the development of new master plan for Akure, the state capital, Ore town and Araromi seaside.
Mr Akingbasote, who enumerated some of the urban development projects initiated by the administration of Governor Aiyedatiwa, enjoined the Consultant and federal government Agencies in the state to always partner with the Ministry in order to achieve seamless execution of all developmental projects in the state.
While appreciating the Federal government for considering the state for the project as well as the delegation from Abuja, the Director of Master Plan Department of the Ministry, Mr Abimbola Tofowomo draw the attention of the visitors to some encroachment and illegal structures at government setbacks around federal government housing estates and quarters within the state which often distort the physical and urban development plans of the state government.
The Consultant for the project, Mr Moses Ajakaye, an experienced Town Planning Professional, solicited for the cooperation and support of all the stakeholders for the success of the project with a promise to deliver quality job within the stipulated time.
