FGGC AKURE GETS NEW PTA EXECUTIVE MEMBERS
Members of the Parents and Teachers Association, PTA of the Federal Government Girls College, Akure have elected a new set of executives who will pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years.
The event held on Saturday, 30th November, 2024 at the school premises in Akure was attended by parents, teachers, director and the school principal, representatives of the minister of education, representative of the minister of state for education and members of the independent national electoral commission who served as observers.
In her address of welcome, the director and school principal, Dr.(Mrs) Idiat Lawal, appreciated all parents and teachers for their steadfastness and support towards making the citadel of learning envy of rivals in terms of academic excellence and moral values.
The principal who renewed her commitment to the welfare and well-being of students and staff, noted the need for a vibrant PTA executives with a promise of adequate support.
The representative of the Minister of Education, Mrs Ukamaka Okafor, canvased free and fair exercise and urged more support of parents and teachers for the school leadership.
The chairman of the electoral committee, Opeyemi Omole while pledging a level play ground, promised a credible and transparent election.
Other members of the electoral committee include Dr. Awe Babatunde (secretary), Daodu Temidayo, Dr. Mrs Bimpe Ojo, and Rev. Canon Adesina.
The election process got underway with the accreditation of voters as PTA and School fees receipts were used to accredit eligible voters.
Accreditation and Voting were done simultaneously as over 300 voters took their turn to vote for the candidates of their choice.
Four (4) positions were contested, the Chairmanship, Treasurership, Vice Chairmanship and Public Relations.
Three (3) candidates contested for Chairmanship position, four (4) for the Vice Chairmanship position, four (4) for the Treasurership and two (2) for the Public Relations position.
At end of the election, Mrs Omolola Omotunde emerged the Chairman.
Mr Abdul Salam Musa was elected the Vice Chairman while Mrs Olaleye Iyabode Elizabeth was voted the Treasurer.
Comrade Wahab Bankole was elected the Image Maker (Public Relations Officer, PRO)
In her acceptance speech on behalf of other executive members, the chairman, Mrs Omolola Omotunde thanked and appreciated all stakeholders for the opportunity with a promise to justify the confidence reposed in them while craving the support of everyone.
