FGGC AKURE PTA: THE JOURNEY OF IMPACTFUL LEADERSHIP IN 365 DAYS
Following months of consultations, sleepless nights of ruminating, campaign strategies with clear manifestos and judgement day election victory, the 30th of November, 2024 will go down memory lane as the historical date when the new PTA Executives of the Federal Government Girls College, Akure led by Hon. (Mrs) Omolola Omotunde assumed office.
Irrespective of manifestos of different members of the EXCO, the “welfare, wellness and well-being of the Angels” remain top priority.
At this juncture, it is important to look back and appreciate God Almighty for this journey of 365 days and also thank him for the gift of life and good health conditions to carry on.
To the school management led by Director and principal, Mrs Idiat Adenike Lawal, your support, guidance and enabling environment have contributed significantly to the smooth operation and modest success recorded so far.
No doubt, without the contributions, support and constructive criticisms from our amiable parents, teachers and guardians, the journey would not have been eventful. We shall remain eternally grateful.
On assumption of office, we promised to serve with diligence, fear of God, and transparency towards promoting the academic excellence and moral values of our angels.
By the grace of God, so far, so good, we have not lost focus.
The last 365 days have been full of numerous challenges, the good, the bad and the ugly. But in all, we have remained resolute.
In the face of all these noticable challenges, we have recorded some modest achievements which have defined our administration while pointing to promises fulfilled……
1. The introduction of Laundry Services which has now solved the challenge being faced by our angels and parents in terms of cleanliness, hygiene and lost of property.
2. The rehabilitation of PTA hostels especially the replacement of defaced netting on windows and doors alike towards safeguarding the wellness and well-being of our angels.
3. Rehabilitation of some moribund boreholes in conjunction with the school management towards aiding the supply of water for our angels especially during the dry season
4. Payment of inherited outstanding salaries
5. The refurbishment and repairs of the PTA bus towards promoting safe travels of our angels for official state and national events and competitions as well as members of staff.
6. Recruitment of new PTA staff and proposed upward review of their salaries and emoluments.
7. Providing regular support for the welfare of our angels and teachers .
8. Reconstruction of the school incinerator to prevent outbreak of any diseases.
9. The biggest of them all is the ongoing construction of four units of a room and parlour self contained accommodation aimed at improving the living conditions of members of staff for efficient service delivery in all areas which in turn will promote the academic excellence of our angels.
All the aforementioned achievements would not have been possible without the guidance, support, prayers, encouragement, and constructive criticisms of the school management, as well as parents and guardians.
Our appreciation knows no bounds.
In the years ahead, we solicit more support and cooperation as we strive for more activities towards the growth and development of the citadel of learning while promoting the wellness, welfare and well-being of our angels in addition to their academic excellence and moral values.
Thank you and God Bless
Hon. (Mrs) Omolola Omotunde
PTA Chairman (For Members Of The EXCO)
