Alhaji Takuro said government would employ multiple-approach towards ensuring that the concerns of the people at the grassroots are safe-guarded.
The Commissioner who stated that all relevant government agencies played one role or the other in the establishment of the LCDAs stated that government would work towards sustaining the legacy of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
“All of us both the executive , legislature and the judiciary participated in d establishment which emphasizes the importance of the local council development authorities as a platform for attracting development to the grassroots.”
“The government actually took some decisions to protect the people and potential staff of some of the LCDAs as a result of reports of insecurity but the decision led to litigation by members of affected communities”
“The government is working on sustaining the LCDAs as all parties will be engaged. We will look at their grievances and ensure that we can be on same page to facilitate a win-win situation”.
“The ministry of justice is studying the judgement and I can assure you that we are going to sustain the legacy of our late boss, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.”
The Commissioner re-emphasized the warning against wearing of crowns by minor chiefs as the government would not hesitate to apply the law against any erring chief.
“It’s in affirmation of the existing law of the state that a minor chief must not wear crown”.
“We have to protect the image of the traditional institution as there is a standing law that whoever caught risks between two and three years years jail term.”
Takuro stated that “we have been receiving complaints form the communities and we should also realise the dignity and importance of the traditional institutions in our land.”
Alhaji Takuro assured that the “government is working on installing obas in vacant stools across the state from one senatorial district to the other. Anywhere there is is litigation, we stay off”.
