The official commissioning of HIGH CHIEF SAO ADU- WILLIAM’S BUILDING at Iro Quarters in Akure took place on December 24, 2025 and the rite was performed by the reverred Deji Of Akure Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Ogunlade Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, CFR, JP, Odundun II.
The beautiful architectural edifices were built and donated by Dr Barr. Olumuyiwa Adu “Cubana” to the nine (9) household units that biologically constituted the famous dynasty of the late High Chief William Adu- Falokun (1890-1980).
The late High Chief was the paternal grandfather of the renowned Philanthropist and political Titan- Adu Cubana.
The Akure monarch described the goodwill of the oil and gas magnate as one- of- its kind which will reverberate through the history, echoing the resilience and courage of Akure Kingdom as an indivisible entity.
The Chief Imam of Akure Empire, Sheik AbdulAkeem Akorede, who is reputed for his candour and bravery, paid glowing eulogies to Dr Adu’s intentional generosity and thoughtfulness to lift his people out of squalor and joblessness.
To him, Dr Adu’s popularity has transcended beyond the geographical confines of Akure city, he become a popular jingo throughout Nigeria.
The Islamic Cleric encouraged Dr Adu to continue his good intentions without listening to destructive side talks that can distract his focus and mission.
According to Dr Adu “Cubana”, the motive behind this extreme humanitarian action is to serve as a means of strengthening family bonds within Adu’s dynasty, improving the aesthetic values of Iro community and by extension, the face of Akure City.
Before the construction of the masterpiece by the Akure-born oil and gas magnate, this particular environment was notorious for crimes and neighborhood violence, creating fears in the minds of the inhabitants and visitors.
But with the urban renewal efforts of Dr Adu, the vicinity has assumed an atmosphere of serenity, attracting investments and creating new lease of life and hospitality.
I was present at the various stages of construction of the structures. I witnessed Dr Adu’s fastidiousness to details and his meticulousness to planning, personally supervising the buildings and putting in his long standing experience as a realtor and builder.
This colourful ceremony reflected unity among the family members and ignited emotions, strength, sentiments, motivation, determination and prayers, underscoring how an individual can become a source of blessings to others and can be used a vessel of progress and development for the community.
According to a statement signed by his media aide, Kehinde Omoniyi, various speakers at the event, including the jubilant family members and community leaders, presented eloquent testimonies to substantiate the impactful interventions of Dr Olumuyiwa Adu, who has distinguished himself as a politician of ‘particular concern’ in good doings and in providing responsible leadership.
Dr Olumuyiwa Adu is joining forces with Akure sons and daughters to galvanize support and sympathy, with ordained ambition to repositioning Akure to its rightful political, economic and socio-cultural position as a befitting capital of Ondo state.
