Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN has urged Nigerian youths to refocus their minds on entrepreneurial and skill acquisition.
The Governor spoke on Wednesday, calling for attitudinal change on the path of Nigerian youths, at the graduation ceremony of 500 Ondo State Youths trained on different entrepreneurial Skills, held at International Culture and Events Center, The Dome, in Akure .
According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson, the successful youths were trained on Web Development, Graphic Design, Marketing, Fish Processing, Barbing and Make up.
Speaking through his Deputy, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who represented him at the event, Governor Akeredolu said “there is the need for attitudinal change because in the current reality, being a University graduate does not translate to automatic employment” .
“It is more about your talents, the skills you can nurture for you to be of service to the society as well as what you render to the community, for you to be an asset instead of liability” , he said .
While commending the initiative of SSA to Governor on Youth Empowerment, Mr. Lincoln Afolabi Ojo, the governor said, “the identification of promising approaches to addressing youths needs, entrepreneurial and technical challenges with opportunities to draw on a broad range of real life experience, evidence and knowledge sharing, not just obstacles alone, is worth celebrating and I must say, congratulations to all participants” .
In his welcome address, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Youth Empowerment, who is also the host of the event, Mr Lincoln Afolabi Ojo appreciated Governor Akeredolu for his support towards the successful execution of the programme.
“Your commitment to initiative and causes that concerns the growth and inclusion of young people is highly commendable” , he said.
