In a show of inclusive governance, the Governor of Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has assured the people of Ago-Ireti Leprosarium in Akure of improved medical attention and social welfare.
This was as the Governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti paid on-the-spot assessment visit to the Leprosarium Camp.
The Secretary to the State Government was accompained by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Dr Seun Osamaye.
He narrated his personal connection with the camp, recalling his visits as a child, stating that the Camp holds a special place in his heart and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining supports for the community.
Conveying the Governor’s message, Dr. Fasonranti addressed six major concerns raised by the community of which immediate attentions and solutions had been put in place to address them.
He further assured them of improved medical attention, regular and increased salary payments, recruitment of domestic staff, employment opportunities for their children, and empowerment programmes for artisans.
He further announced that the camp’s leadership will soon be invited to a strategic meeting with the government to align on effective implementation of these programmes.
Similarly , Special Adviser to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye assured the community of continued inclusion in upcoming programmes and initiatives of the ministry of women affairs.
Osamaye highlighted several targeted interventions planned by the Aiyedatiwa-led administration to address the unique needs of vulnerable groups and assured hat the community would be included.
Responding on behalf of the community, Mr. Tunde Salawu expressed deep appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for his compassionate and responsive leadership which reflects his commitment to the well-being of every citizen.
Mr. Salawu also acknowledged the government’s engagement of community members like Dayo Oluwole (Adaba) and appealed for continued support and empowerment.
Madam Victoria Dada echoed Mr. Salawu’s words, adding that the visit reassured them of their place in society and reminded them that they are not forgotten.
This visit is yet another testament to Governor Aiyedatiwa’s all-inclusive leadership and his unwavering dedication to the welfare of every citizen, regardless of their circumstances.
