
GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA PROMISES IMPROVED GOVT-MEDIA RELATIONSHIP AS LEKE ADEGBITE RE-ELECTED AS ONDO NUJ CHAIRMAN
The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has congratulated the Chairman of the Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Prince Leke Adegbite, on his re-election.
The Governor in his goodwill message at the inauguration of the new leadership of the union in Akure on Wednesday, hailed the smooth transition that produced Adegbite for a second term in office.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Governor commended members of the union for their continued show of unity and maturity, describing the peaceful transition of leadership as a demonstration of the union’s commitment to professionalism and internal democracy.
Governor Aiyedatiwa appreciated the support and cooperation the Ondo NUJ has extended to his administration, adding that the government will continue to identify with the union in the interest of good governance and responsible journalism.
He said the government holds in high esteem the partnership with the media and hopes that this cordial relationship will be further strengthened under the new leadership of the union.
The Governor also congratulated a member of the Press Crew in the Governor’s Office, Miss Precious Oluwole of the TRACE News Magazine, who emerged as the Assistant General Secretary of the union.
In his address at the event, the National President of the NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, represented by the Vice President, South West Zone, Mrs. Aderonke Samo, commended members of the Ondo State Council for their commitment to the pen profession. He appreciated the immediate past executives for their service and lauded the peaceful conduct of the election.
In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite, assured members of his commitment to the protection of journalists’ interests in the state.
He expressed gratitude to leaders of the union from neighbouring states who graced the occasion, pledging to build on the achievements of the past administration.
The newly elected executives who were sworn in and presented with certificates of office are: Prince Leke Adegbite – Chairman; Mr. Meshach Olaoluwa – General Secretary; Mrs. Maria Famakinwa – Treasurer; and Miss Precious Oluwole – Assistant Secretary.
