Green Energy International Limited has expended over Three Hundred Million Naira on youth-focused programmes and projects designed to strengthen community development outcomes in its host communities in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Green Energy is the operator of the Otakikpo PML 11 in Rivers State in a Joint Venture with Lekoil Oil and Gas Limited.
According to information made public on its x page, the funds were spent on scholarships, bursary and skill acquisition programmes for the youths in Ikuru town community, Ugama-Ekede, Ayama-Ekede, Asukama and Asuk-Oyet.
“While over 3,000 indigenes of the various communities in both primary, secondary and tertiary institutions benefitted from scholarship programmes, the Joint Venture has consistently put in place programmes and projects that are geared towards justifying the confidence the people and government reposed in the JV”.
“These interventions span human capital development, peacebuilding initiatives, youth-centred
community programmes and the award of projects to youth-led enterprises”.
“These initiatives are strategically structured to stimulate economic empowerment, build skills
and leadership capacity, promote social cohesion and foster peaceful and harmonious coexistence within
the host communities”.
“Since inception in 2023, the Host Communities Development Trust has commissioned eight projects
and has over 15 ongoing ones being prepared for commissioning in
January 2026 just as its skill
acquisition and empowerment programmes have been completed”.

2022 have continued to play significant roles in rekindling the hope of host communities in operators of oil and gas field in the Niger-Delta part of Nigeria”.
