GREEN ENERGY NOT INVOLVED IN DISCHARGE OF CRUDE OIL WASTE ON WATERWAYS – MANAGEMENT
The Green Energy International Limited has debunked the claim of dumping crude oil into waterways in its field in Andoni local government area of Rivers State.
This is response to an online video alleging such which the management described as untrue and misleading.
In a statement signed by the Executive Director of Corporate and Legal Services of the company, Barrister Segun Ilori, the company frowned at the unfounded information without cross-checking the facts.
In his words, “our attention has been drawn to a false claim circulating online that crude oil waste is being discharged into waterways around the “Andoni waterways. This allegation is untrue and misleading”.
“The imagery and location referenced in the circulating video do not correspond to Green Energy’s facilities, which are not situated within or adjacent to waterways.
In our own Otakikpo Field in Andoni we operate under a strict zero-discharge policy, fully compliant with Nigeria’s Environmental Guidelines and Standards for the Petroleum Industry (EGASPIN)”.
He added that “an Environmental Impact Assessment was completed prior to development and environmental parameters are jointly monitored quarterly with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) as no adverse impacts have been recorded”.
The Executive Director stressed that “Green Energy has never discharged crude oil waste into the environment and will not engage in practices that endanger our host communities or ecosystems”.
“We urge the public to disregard misinformation. Green Energy remains committed to transparent, responsible operations and environmental stewardship in the Niger Delta while calling on the author and those with similar mindset to refrain from projecting or disseminating misleading narratives with generalized opinions”, Barrister Ilori added.
