GROUP, COLLEAGUES CELEBRATE INT’L MEDIA PRACTITIONER AYO DURODOLA ON HIS BIRTHDAY
A socio-cultural organisation based in Ondo and Ekiti States, ‘Agbajowo Foundation’ has felicitated a pride of Ondo State and International public administrator, Ayo Durodola on the occasion of his birthday.
Ayo Durodola was a broadcast professional in Ondo State before proceeding to work with the United States Embassy in Nigeria.
On this occasion of his birthday, the group in a statement wishes the generous, focused, kind-hearted, accommodating and God-fearing rising star of the Sunshine State a happy birthday and many more years in good health.
In the statement signed by the Spokesman of the group, Mr. Seun Adetola, the Owo-born celebrant is described as a reliable professional and passionate contributor to human and societal development.
The statement reads, “Ayo Durodola has not only been a great ambassador of Owo Kingdom, this outstanding media practitioner has also succeeded in being a source of encouragement to colleagues globally”.
“It is on record that Ayo Durodola has sponsored no fewer than ten awards in various categories in honour of both living and departed senior colleagues in Ondo State where he cut his teeth in broadcast journalism”.
“In recognition of his various roles, the Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists conferred on this international media personality an Award of Excellence as DISTINGUISHED MEDIA AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR in 2024.
“On this special day of his, we join the global community to identify with a brother and friend whose impart is not being felt in his profession but also promotion of the culture of his people as displayed in the annual ‘Igogo Festival’ in Owo, Ondo State”.
Ayo Durodola was born in Benin City in the mid 70s to late Princess Veronica and Chief Tunde Durodola.
His father was the first son of late Chief Yusuf Durodola, the Olugboroko of Owo while his mother was of the Eweka dynasty of Benin.
Ayo cut his teeth in broadcasting in Ondo State Radiovison Corporation in 1997 and has never looked back since.
He started off as an announcer and quickly became a presenter ,then a producer.
He honed his skills in both radio and TV presentation and production and was a delight to watch or listen to on his shows.
He is known to have crossed the lines of code-mixing with finesse as he could present programs to relate with his diverse audience which cuts across societal strata and languages.
He has produced programmes for legends and popular names in the industry.
The likes of Segun Babs of Ile Alayo, Yemi Sonde, Kola Olootu had felt his touch on their programmes.
He was greatly influenced by legends like late Alhaji Abbas Akinwande who he produced on “Time for Highlife”, Ayo Ogedengbe, Ayo Omotosho whom he produced on the program” Love Zone”, Fatai Dan-Wahab who greatly inspired him, Soni Irabor, Larry King, Walter Cronkite, Frank Edoho, Veronica Osawere, Sadiq Daba, Yinka Craig among others.
Over the years, he has worked with local and international media outfits like OSRC, Voice Of Nigeria and Voice of America and has consulted for many.
He holds a few diplomas and degrees in Journalism, History and International relations, Mass Communication, Strategic Planning and multimedia.
Ayo Durodola is married and blessed.
