IKORO-EKITI PEOPLE BACK ORIRE-LED INITIATIVE
pledge moral and logistics support.
The Bayo Orire-led committee that was constituted to herald a rancour free process for the election of the first elected chairman for Eso-obe LCDA within the All Progressives Congress, APC, has received massive endorsement from the generality of Ikoro people.
The endorsement came through messages and phone calls to the chairman of the committee by well-meaning representatives of Ikoro community.
Professor Seinde Benson, the national President of Ikoro Progressive Association, IPA, the umbrella body of all the sons and daughters of Ikoro Ekiti, in his letter said, “On behalf of all sons and daughters of Ikoro Ekiti, I thank you most sincerely for your initiative to coordinate the affairs of your political party, the All Progressives Congress, (APC) with a view to ensuring that the process that will produce the first elected chairman of Eso-obe LCDA is free, fair and credible.”
“Although Ikoro Progressives Association (IPA) is completely apolitical, as stakeholders and major financiers of the Eso-obe LCDA project, we are interested in the credibility, suitability and capacity of the would-be first executive chairman of our LCDA. Therefore, we are hopeful that your committee will ensure that our first chairman is capable of transforming our dreams of making the LCDA viable and self-sufficient within the shortest period of time. I have the mandate of members and the executive of IPA to give you both moral and logistics support on this patriotic assignment, where and / or when necessary.”
On his part, Chief Ayo Falade, an America-based illustrious son of Ikoro Ekiti and a palace chief of Olukoro, has also declared his support for the Orire-led initiative.
“This is going in perfect direction. The first elected chairman of Eso-obe LCDA must be competent, proactive, experienced, a good administrator and also must be the one that has exhibited support for the development of the town. I believe strongly that the screening committee members would be sincere and unbiased by putting Ikoro’s interest first in carrying out this all-important assignment.” Falade submitted.
The Olukoro-in-Council through its spokesperson, High Chief Adebomi Adeyeye, the Ominio of Ikoro Ekiti, also called Dr. Orire on phone and urged him to ensure that a thorough job is done by his committee.
“The Olukoro-in-Council appreciates your initiative and the compilation of your inclusive committee. By this action of yours, you are setting a worthy precedence for younger politicians to emulate. We are hopeful that your committee will produce for us through a truly unbiased process the first elected chairman that will unite our people more and translate the dreams of Eso-obe LCDA to realities. We say thank you and well done to your committee”. Ominio concluded.
Meanwhile, the committee had its inaugural meeting yesterday, September 21st, 2023, with five (5) out of its seven (7) members in attendance. Those who attended yesterday’s meeting are Dr. Bayo Orire, Hon (Mrs) Bola Ojo, Gboyega Ajayi, Eniola Olomu and Engr. Kayode Ojo who attended by proxy.
A total of four (4) Chairmanship and three (3) Councillorship aspirants have so far submitted themselves to the scrutiny of the committee.
The Chairmanship aspirants are: Hon. Ojo Omotokiri, Hon. Tosin Oluwole, Hon. Biodun Benson and Mr. Taiwo Akanbi. They all pledged allegiance to the committee and promised to abide by the guidance and report of the committee in the collective interest of Eso-obe LCDA.
