IPAC REMAINS ONLY RECOGNISED UMBRELLA BODY FOR POLITICAL PARTIES IN NIGERIA – EKITI IPAC
The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Ekiti State has declared the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) as non-existent, warning the faces behind such to stop parading themselves as representatives of political parties in the state.
This decision was made after a meeting of duly registered and recognized political parties represented by their chairmen who distanced themselves from CUPP’s activities.
According to IPAC Chairman, Hon Owoola Daramola, CUPP’s recent online statement is an attempt to undermine the state’s well-constituted political setting.
Daramola described CUPP members as “political wonderers, destitutes, and desperados seeking attention,” and urged the public to ignore them.
IPAC emphasized that it is the only umbrella organization for all INEC-recognized and registered political parties in Ekiti State and Nigeria as a whole.
The council declared CUPP’s activities as illegal and unconstitutional, calling for their proscription and immediate halt of activities.
“The body is a product of Legislation administered by a Code of Conduct declaration backed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria amended.”
“We hereby and unanimously declare the so called Coalition of Political Parties (CUPP) activities as illegal, unconstitutional. Hence the group should be proscribed and their activities halted with immediate effects”.
