Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s One Year of Impactful Governance

Today, 24th February 2026, marks the first anniversary of the elective term of Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as the 7th democratically elected Governor of Ondo State since its creation on 3rd February 1976. Having won the Governorship Election held on 16th November 2024, he formally began this mandate with renewed commitment to purposeful leadership.
As constitutionally required, Governor Aiyedatiwa had earlier assumed office to complete the tenure of his late principal, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, following his unfortunate demise on 27th December 2023. This transition reaffirmed the enduring truism that governance is indeed a continuum.
In preparation to mark this first anniversary, it is noteworthy that over 47 road projects have been completed across the three senatorial districts of the state — a clear demonstration of balanced development and infrastructural renewal.
Gradually but steadily, the laudable and monumental achievements of the Lucky Aiyedatiwa-led administration have begun to manifest across critical sectors. From infrastructure to investment promotion, the administration has maintained a focused and results-driven approach.
Yesterday, at the Investment Summit held at the International Culture and Events Centre, (The Dome) Igbatoro Road, Akure, entrepreneurs and professionals gathered to showcase the vast potentials of Ondo State to prospective investors. The consensus was clear: Governor Aiyedatiwa remains committed, dedicated, and focused on redefining governance while setting a high pedestal for leadership and good governance across all facets of human endeavour.
The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, extended goodwill messages to the Governor on this milestone. Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South Senatorial District, delivered the Senate President’s message and encouraged the Governor to remain steadfast, undistracted by criticism, and resolute in service to the people.
Beyond the voices of naysayers, testimonies abound regarding the new pace in governance and the clarity of vision driving the administration toward a better future.
As Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration marks one year of its elective tenure, it stands as one year of impactful governance — defined by progress, stability, and purposeful leadership.
