MY ASPIRATION DRIVEN BY GRASSROOTS SUPPORT, LONG-STANDING COMMITMENT TO PUBLIC SERVICE – TAIWO FASORANTI
Former Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti has dismissed claims that his senatorial ambition is being dictated by political interests in Abuja Politics
Fasoranti described the allegation that he is an “Abuja-imposed candidate” as false, misleading, and politically motivated, insisting that his aspiration is driven by grassroots support and a long-standing commitment to public service.
He spoke on Sunday in Akure during an interaction with The Hope.
“My decision to contest is not influenced by any external imposition.
It is a product of my commitment to serve my people,” he said.
According to him, his entry into the senatorial race stems from local encouragement and a desire to represent the interests of his constituency effectively.
He stressed that leadership must emerge from the will of the people, not political labelling, adding that his political journey has been shaped by years of community engagement.
“No external influence can substitute the trust and acceptance of the people I seek to serve,” he said.
Fasoranti also expressed appreciation to Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to serve as Secretary to the State Government, noting that the role gave him deeper insight into the needs of the people.
He said his senatorial ambition would enable him to attract federal projects and address developmental challenges in the district.
The former SSG recently resigned his position to pursue his senatorial ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.
His resignation, contained in a letter dated March 30, 2026, and addressed to Governor Aiyedatiwa, was confirmed in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.
According to the statement, Fasoranti stepped down voluntarily to focus on his aspiration to represent Ondo Central in the National Assembly.
In his formal declaration, Fasoranti said his ambition is rooted in “a deep sense of responsibility” and a commitment to people-oriented representation.
He said his legislative agenda would focus on improving infrastructure, strengthening institutions, and expanding opportunities for residents.
With over three decades of experience in the medical field, Fasoranti previously served at the State House Medical Centre, where he rose to the directorate cadre before retiring in 2024.
He later served as Secretary to the State Government, where he was involved in policy coordination and implementation at the executive level.
He noted that his experience in healthcare administration and governance has prepared him for legislative responsibilities at the national level.
“As I step forward in this journey, I do so with a clear vision to provide purposeful representation, listen to the aspirations of our people, and translate those aspirations into meaningful action,” he said.
Fasoranti urged residents of Ondo Central, comprising Ondo West, Ondo East, Ifedore, Akure South, Akure North, and Idanre, to support his candidacy, appealing for their trust, prayers and cooperation ahead of the 2027 polls.
