
NANS ORGANISED RALLY FOR EKITI REPS HOPEFUL,OMOLEYE
… declares him dependable comrade
Ahead of next Saturday general elections, the House of Representatives candidate for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. Biodun Omoleye received the support and endorsement of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Friday, 18th of February, 2023 as the leaders of the students’ association stormed Ekiiti Central Federal Constituency II to identify with him.
This event took place at a programme organized by Tinubu/Shettima Students Vanguard, Ekiti state chapter, tagged “Engagement with Hon. Biodun Omoleye” held at Ijero-Ekiti civic centre.
The programme which was graced by the former President of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Sunday Asefon, had in attendance Ekiti students leaders from various institutions across the country.
Omoleye while addressing the gathering said he understand the challenges being faced by youths in the society and promised to amplify a coordinated national youth agenda to ensure that the youths are properly placed in the scheme of governance.
Omoleye who had served as a Special Adviser on Youths to former Minister of Education, Late Babs Fafunwa, said the challenges of youths in any given society are numerous and opined that it will take a concerted efforts by all stakeholders to address them.
While appreciating the organisers of the event and participating students for their show of love and supports, Omoleye enjoined them to be more focused and determined. He charged them to seek for more knowledge beyond the four corners of their classrooms.
In his address, the former NANS President, Comrade Sunday Asefon, said the event was organized to drum up supports for Hon Biodun Omoleye.
“Hon Biodun Omoleye was the only candidate we organized this type of event for in Ekiti because we believed in his antecedents. He has helped the students unions in the past and we are ready to reward him with our votes. He is capable of representing his constituency effectively and efficiently”, declared Asefon.
Asefon called on students and youths across the LGAs and LCDAs in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II to support the candidacy of Omoleye by coming out enmas on the 25th February, 2023 to elect him into the Green Chamber.
Also Speaking, Director-General, Omoleye Campaign Organization, Hon. Dapo Kolawole, commended the students for organizing the programme in support of Omoleye and assured them that the APC candidate will not disappoint them. Hon. Kolawole disclosed at the event that he is in support of Omoleye wholeheartedly. “Omoleye’s project is my personal project”, the FERMA Director affirmed.
There were goodwill messages from various personalities that graced the event, including the Deputy Director General of Omoleye Campaign Organization in Ijero LGA, Hon Ropo Ige, Executive Chairman of Ijero LG, Hon Adeola Adeyemo, Lawmaker representing Ijero Constituency, Hon. Ademola Ojo, Director of Media and Communication, Omoleye Campaign Organization, Hon. Gboyega Ajayi, Chairman, Tinubu/Shettima Students Vanguard, Ekiti state chapter, Comrade Alade Emmanuel, among others.
After the eventful engagement at the venue, the students and their leaders walked round Ijero metropolis with Hon. Biodun Omoleye and his teeming supporters in a solidarity rally for the APC candidate.
Omoleye is an household name when it comes to students and youths emancipation in Nigeria. He played active roles during the 1985 International Youth Year (I.Y.Y) when he served as a national committee member. He was also a coordinator of Nigerians Participation at the 13th World Youth & Student festival in North Korea in 1989 and a member of the Federal Government Trade Delegation to East and Southern Africa in 1991.
At a very young age, Omoleye was appointed as an Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Education and Youth Development, Late Babs Fafunwa. He served as the Minister’s Representative on the board of the National Youth Council of Nigeria as a pioneer Governing Council Member from 1992 till 1999.
Omoleye has indeed paid his due in students and youths emancipation. It’s not surprising, therefore, that the students and youths within and outside his Federal Constituency are rooting for and identifying with him.
