
NASRDA, KENYA SPACE AGENCY CHART PATH FOR INTRA-AFRICAN SPACE PARTNERSHIP
The Director General and Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has emphasized that Space Science and Technology remain strategic tools for national development.
Dr. Adepoju made this statement during a high-level interactions with the Kenya Space Agency and Nigerian space startups held at NASRDA Headquarters in Abuja.
The NASRDA Boss, who was represented by the Director, Media and Corporate Communications of the Agency, Dr. Felix Ale, stated that the growth of any nation depends largely on its space capabilities.
According to him, Africa must embrace stronger intra-African engagements by encouraging mutual investments, collaborations, and initiatives that enable countries to leverage one another’s resources.
Dr Adepoju maintained that such partnerships would provide the necessary support for socioeconomic development across the continent.
In his remarks, the Director General of the Kenya Space Agency, Brigadier Hillary Kipkosgey Biwott, described the presentations as highly insightful.
He expressed Kenya’s enthusiasm in supporting and developing the African space sector, noting that space remains the center of gravity for progressive economic development.
Brig. Biwott while commending NASRDA and Nigeria Space Startups noted that his visit to Nigeria has shown that the continent is not short of brilliant ideas, he therefore stress the need to nurture such initiatives.
In his technical presentation, the Acting Director of Space Enterprise, Dr. Idris Jega, highlighted startup models designed to drive innovation, commercialization, and inclusiveness in space technology.
He explained that the framework is intended to inspire the next generation of space enthusiasts while providing sustainable pathways for Africa’s technological advancement.
The high point of the event featured presentations by various Nigeria space startups, showcasing groundbreaking ideas and innovative solutions tailored to strengthen Africa’s participation in the global space economy.
