The Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has urged the Nasarawa State Government to engage Dangote Group in a strategic partnership that will apply space technology to the sustainable development of the state’s mineral resources.
Dr. Adepoju made the call during a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, at the State Lodge in Abuja.
He emphasized that such a tripartite collaboration between NASRDA, the State Government, and Dangote Group would not only accelerate resource development but also provide strong scientific and technological support to advance Nigeria’s economic diversification agenda.

According to him, with NASRDA’s satellite and GIS tools, the Agency can deliver accurate mapping of mineral deposits, monitor illegal activities, and strengthen security around resource sites. This he said will position Nasarawa as a model for sustainable mineral resource management in Nigeria.
Dr Adepoju further stated that NASRDA’s innovations, extend beyond mining to education and health adding that the Agency’s GIS mapping solutions can be used to improve school infrastructure planning, track performance outcomes, and optimize teacher distribution, while its satellite-enabled tracking systems can enhance service delivery in both health and education sectors.
In his response, the executive Governor of Nasarawa state, Engr Abdullahi Sule lauded NASRDA’s forward-looking approach, describing the Space Agency as a vital driver of national development through science and technology.
The Governor while commending Dr. Adepoju’s leadership style, expressed his administration’s full commitment to supporting the proposed collaboration.
