
NASRDA SPOKESMAN, DR FELIX ALE TASKS AIYEDATIWA ON UTILISATION OF GEOSPATIAL TECHNOLOGY FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE
As Honourable Lucky Aiyedatiwa prepares to take the oath of office for a full term tenure as Executive Governor of Ondo State, a communication expert and Director, Media and Corporate Communications of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr Felix Ale has called on him to utilize Geospatial Technology as part of strategies to drive development in the Sunshine State.
In a Press Statement, the NASRDA Spokesman assured the Ondo State Governor of the support and collaboration of the Space Agency in achieving the desired goal in this regard.
According to Dr Ale, establishment of a Land Information System and Crime Mapping framework using geospatial Technology will modernize land management processes, enhance urban planning and bolster security operations through the application of cutting -edge geospatial Technology.
The Media Scholar and Communication expert maintained that with the rapid growth of urbanization and complexities of managing land resources, it has become imperative for government at all levels to adopt innovative systems that ensure efficient land administration.
Dr Ale said, a Land Information System offers a digital framework for storing, managing and analyzing land related data, providing a foundation for improved land governance, property taxation and dispute resolution.
The Oka Akoko born Director of Media and Corporate Communications of NASRDA while complimenting this technological innovation, pointed that geospatial crime mapping which utilizes location-based analytics is critical in supporting law enforcement in identifying crime patterns, hotspots and trends.
The system according to him will enable data-driven decision making, ensuring that scarce resources are deployed effectively to enhance the safety and security of the great people of the Sunshine State.
Dr Ale explained that the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) is out and ready to support and partner with any state government in realization of its vision of leveraging technology for sustainable development and good governance.
He said the Agency’s key objectives on its geospatial Technology programme is to digitalize property records for transparency and efficiency, providing planners with accurate data to inform development projects as well as using geospatial analytics to support crime prevention strategies and streamlining property taxation to increase internally generated revenue.
Dr Ale called on Governor Aiyedatiwa to make the radical development of Ondo State in all sectors the priority of his administration and strive at all times to leave no stone unturned in placing his name on the positive side of history through execution of meaningful and impactful projects in the Sunshine State.
