Speaking with journalists in Lagos over the weekend, Ale described the appointments as “not only positioning of right pegs in the right holes but have significantly advanced Nigeria’s Innovation Science and Technology sector, propelling the Nation towards a brighter and more technologically advanced future.”
The NASRDA spokesperson emphasised that President Tinubu’s decision to entrust leadership roles to distinguished professionals is greatly contributing to the success of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, “the combined expertise and dedication of Chief Uche Nnaji and Dr. Matthew Adepoju have elevated Nigeria’s standing in the global arena and also paved the way for a more prosperous and technologically advanced future.”
Ale also highlighted the synergy between the Minister and the NASRDA Director General, noting that their collaboration has led to remarkable achievements in repositioning Nigeria’s space Programme.
He stated, “This has led to a remarkable milestone and instrumental in repositioning the Nigerian Space program on the right track, particularly at this point in time.”
While acknowledging the positive transformation within the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology since Chief Nnaji’s appointment, Ale described Adepoju’s tenure as exceptional.
“The tenure of Dr. Matthew Adepoju as Director General of NASRDA about nine months ago following the recommendation of the Minister has been outstanding in the history of the Space Agency,” he said.
He further noted that Adepoju’s leadership is characterized by a three-point agenda aimed at transforming NASRDA for global competitiveness, unlocking the potential of its workforce, and integrating the private sector into Nigeria’s space ecosystem.
According to Ale, “Dr. Adepoju has left no stone unturned towards the successful realization of his 3-point agenda for the greatness of the agency and transformation of the Nigeria space agenda into reality.”
Ale also spoke about the proposed establishment of the Federal University of Aerospace and Aeronautics (FUAORO) in Oka-Akoko, emphasizing its importance in national development.
“The vision of the specialized University is to excel in high-quality teaching, research, development, and innovation learning with strong capacity to compete globally in space science and engineering,” he explained.
He stressed that the university would bridge the gap between industry and academia, fostering an environment that enhances research quality and economic impact.
“The University is planned to bridge the gap between the industrial sector and the academia by creating enabling environment that will help the students and staff to acquire skills and maximize their potential in strengthening research quality for knowledge transfer and economic impact for the benefit of humanity,” he said.
Ale urged President Tinubu to prioritize the establishment of the university, noting that its commencement would be a landmark achievement under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He asserted, “The presidential assent and commencement of academic works in the proposed university will no doubt remain one of the high points of the numerous achievements of the present administration under its Renewed Hope Agenda for transformation in the educational and technological sectors.”
He further expressed confidence that the university would gain global recognition. “The institution will also be a cynosure of attraction and reference points by the international community, particularly the intellectual and prestigious community of the space practice across the globe,” he stated.
Ale reaffirmed NASRDA’s commitment to leveraging space-based solutions to tackle national challenges, including poverty, disease, hunger, and socio-economic issues.
According to him, “this is where its educational intervention through the establishment of the Federal University of Aerospace and Aeronautics finds relevance.”
