
NATIONAL CITIZENS CENTER TO HOLD SPECIAL EVENTS TO MARK INT’L DAY OF OLDER PERSONS IN AKURE
…Programme To Feature Awards Presentation, Medical Outreach, Cultural Display, others
The activities marking the 2025 annual National Senior Citizens Day will be held in Akure on Monday, October 6.
The event being organised by the Ondo State Stakeholders on Ageing, a chapter of the National Senior Citizens Centre will feature among other things the First Older Persons Award in the State by the Stakeholders.
According to a statement signed by Co-Chair 1 of the National Senior Citizens Centre, Mr. Ade Ayeni, the venue of the event is the First Baptist Church, Oba Adesida Road, Akure, at 11.00am.
Some of the unique features of this year’s edition are the Award of Excellence to two prominent Ondo State indigenes who have contributed immensely to the welfare of senior citizens in the state,in a variety of ways.
The recipients are two distinguished gentlemen with impactful contributions to the affairs of the Elderly in Ondo State.
The occasion will also feature a lecture by a Physician Genrotologist,
medical outreach,health talks, performance by the Ondo State Cultural Troupe and other musical shows
to entertain the participants and guests at the event.
The two Special Guests of Honour at the ceremony are the Hon.Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development,Dr.Bosede Osamaye,and Hon.Adesoji Afolabi, the Hon.Commissioner
Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
