NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN SOCIETIES HONOURS AIYEDATIWA’S AIDE, OLAMIDE FALANA WITH AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

***The National President called on other women in positions of authority to emulate Falana who has continued to promote issues affecting the girl-child and women in the society

The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) has recognised the contributions of the Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Gender Matters, Chief (Mrs.) Olamide Falana to the development of the girl-child and women emancipation in the state and beyond.

This was as the Governor Aiyedatiwa’s aide was honoured with an award of excellence at the Biennial Conference of the association, with the theme “Invest in Women; Accelerate Progress” held in Abuja yesterday.

The National President of the council, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau said Chief (Mrs.) Falana has created a new orientation in terms of prioritising gender matters as a private person as well as an aide to the governor.

Hajiya Lau made reference to a radio programme, ‘Kikelomo’ initiated by the special adviser even before assuming office as a political appointee likewise other ongoing innovative programs she is currently involved in.

According to a statement signed by the Media Officer to the Special Adviser, Debbie Funmilayo, the National President called on other women in positions of authority to emulate Falana who has continued to promote issues affecting the girl-child and women in the society.

In her response, the special adviser, Chief (Mrs.) Falana attributed the various achievements recorded in her office to the commitment of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to women development in the state.

Falana said the recognition by the NCWS would spur her to do more and create more platforms towards ensuring that gender-based violence and women emancipation are given utmost priority.

The Special Adviser called for more cooperation from women groups both at home and in the diaspora towards achieving set objectives.

She emphasised that the Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has put in place all the required structures and processes that would ensure an enabling environment for women development as well as even distribution of resources across the 18 local government areas of the state.

The event had in attendance a large number of Ondo State delegates, representatives of Fiwasaye Old Girl’s association and leadership of the National Council of Women Societies also featured awards of Goodwill Ambassadors on Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB), Special Adviser on Education, Dr Olawunmi Ilawole, Olori Folasade Momoh while Bishop (Mrs) Odusola Oluseyi was awarded life member of NCWS.
