NBTI DG REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO STAFF WELFARE IN LINE WITH RENEWED HOPE AGENDA
The Director General/CEO of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, has reiterated his unwavering commitment to ensuring the welfare and well-being of NBTI staff in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Dr. Raji made this assertion in response to a courtesy visit by the Secretary General of the Academic Staff Union of Research Institutes (ASURI), Professor Theophilus Ndubuaku, who called for improved labour relations and enhanced staff welfare at NBTI.
ASURI’s Call for Strengthened Labour Relations and Research Funding
During the visit, Professor Ndubuaku emphasized the critical role of NBTI in Nigeria’s industrial and technological advancement, stressing the need for an efficient and motivated workforce to drive its mandate. He urged the new management to foster a harmonious labour relationship and prioritize staff welfare to boost productivity.
He further called on NBTI’s leadership to support ASURI’s advocacy for legislative backing to establish a National Research Council Fund, which would provide sustainable financing for research and development agencies across the country.
Professor Ndubuaku commended Dr. Raji’s leadership and achievements within a short time, stating: “We conducted due diligence immediately after your appointment and found that you are highly qualified and capable. Your track record speaks for itself, and we are confident that you will take NBTI to greater heights.”
DG/CEO NBTI’s Commitment to Workers’ Welfare
In his response, Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji assured the ASURI leadership and NBTI staff that equity, justice, and fairness would be the guiding principles of his administration. He emphasized that no worker would be shortchanged under his leadership, as he remains committed to creating an enabling work environment that enhances productivity and employee satisfaction.
“The welfare of my staff is paramount, and I have always ensured that wherever I serve, workers’ interests are prioritized. At NBTI, we will implement policies that promote fairness and enhance the well-being of all employees, irrespective of status,” Dr. Raji stated.
He also revealed that upon assuming office, he immediately initiated the development of a comprehensive Condition of Service to ensure that NBTI employees receive fair remuneration, job security, and career growth opportunities.
“I observed that there was no formal Condition of Service for NBTI staff. Recognizing the importance of structured workplace policies, I swiftly set up a committee to draft a framework that will guarantee the rights and benefits of our employees while boosting their morale and overall productivity,” he added.
A Call for Unity and Collaboration
Dr. Raji urged ASURI to continue fostering unity among its members and collaborate with NBTI’s management to advance the interests of research professionals in Nigeria. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with all stakeholders to ensure that NBTI remains a driving force in Nigeria’s industrial and technological development.
