NCWS Endorses Chief Olamide Falana for House of Representatives, Urges More Women Participation In Politics
The National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Ondo State chapter, has formally endorsed Chief Olamide Falana for a seat in the House of Representatives to represent Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency, describing her aspiration as a significant step toward advancing women’s political participation in the state.
The endorsement was made at a meeting held on Friday, November 15th, 2025, at the Ministry of Women Affairs Hall, Akure, where the Council reiterated its resolve to champion women’s inclusion in governance and encouraged more women to offer themselves for elective positions in the 2027 general elections.
Present at the gathering were the NCWS State President, Bishop Mrs. Odusola; the former president, popularly known as Mama SUBEB; Mrs. Oladunni; Mrs. Adeniyi; LGA presidents from across the state; elders; and numerous other members of the Council.
In their collective declaration of support, the leaders commended Chief Falana for her longstanding contributions to women’s empowerment and public service. They noted that her ambition to represent the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency aligns with the Council’s commitment to strengthening female representation at all levels of governance.
They emphasized that backing competent female candidates remains crucial to achieving balanced leadership and promoting gender-responsive governance in Nigeria.
The NCWS reiterated its commitment to mobilizing, mentoring, and encouraging more women across Ondo State to step into leadership roles, stressing that increased female participation is vital to building a more inclusive and equitable democracy.
The Council also called on the government and political parties to adopt at least three female consensus candidates for House of Representatives seats in each senatorial district, noting that such a move would significantly deepen gender representation in the 2027 elections.
Receiving the endorsement with appreciation, Chief Olamide Falana pledged to champion policies that uplift women, enhance rural development, and expand opportunities for marginalized groups when elected.
A few weeks ago, the Association of Women for Human Development (Womenled NGOs) in Ondo state had endorsed Hon Olamide Falana’s candidacy.
This shows a wide acceptance of her candidacy and a growing resolve of women to push for gender representation in political leadership at next general elections.
