NDPHC HANDS OVER KEY ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION INFRASTRUCTURE TO ONDO POWER COMPANY
The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has formally handed over key electricity distribution infrastructure in Ondo State to the Ondo State Power Company Limited (OSPCL), as part of efforts to optimise asset utilisation and improve value recovery.
This was disclosed in a letter dated March 12, 2026, addressed to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), and obtained by newsmen in Akure.
In the correspondence signed by NDPHC’s Executive Director, Legal Services, Dr. Steven Andzenge, the company said the decision followed discussions with the Ondo State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and OSPCL.
The assets involved include the Araromi 33kV distribution line corridor, a 2.5MVA 33/11kV injection substation, and other associated equipment connected to the Omotosho Power Station.
According to the letter, the arrangement is aimed at ensuring optimal use of the infrastructure while guaranteeing appropriate commercial returns.
“Consequently, BEDC is hereby formally notified that the said infrastructure has been handed over to OSPCL by NDPHC,” the letter stated.
Copies of the notice were also sent to the Ondo State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Johnson Alabi as well as the Managing Director/CEO of OSPCL.
The development signals a shift in the management and utilisation of power assets within Ondo State, with the state-owned power company now taking a more active role in electricity distribution infrastructure linked to the Omotosho Power Station.
