NINE SURVEYORS ABDUCTED IN ONDO REGAIN FREEDOM AFTER ₦20 MILLION RANSOM PAYMENT
The nine surveyors kidnapped at a site in Ilu-Abo, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, have been released after a ransom payment of ₦20 million.
Pastor Ajibade Owolanke, brother to the Ejemikin of Akure, High Chief Oluwole Omotayo, confirmed the development.
According to Owolanke, the surveyors were freed last night and are currently in Akure, although their exact location was not disclosed.
The surveyors were abducted by gunmen on Tuesday last week while working at the site in Ilu-Abo.
Their release brings relief to their families and colleagues, who had been advocating their safe return.
The payment of ₦20 million as ransom has raised concerns about the growing trend of kidnapping for ransom in the state.
The Ondo State Government has been urged to take decisive action to address the security challenges facing the state.
