NUJ HONOURS OLUMUYIWA ADU WITH POLITICAL POLITICAL ICON OF THE YEAR AWARD
Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel, Ekiti State Council has celebrated some individuals whose service and influence have shaped communities and promoted societal development.
The event which witnessed the presence of Olayinka Oyebode, the Chief Press Secretary to Ekiti State Governor, Rt Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, Adviser on information and many other government functionaries took place at the capital city of Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, 27th August, 2025.
Among the prominent awardees were Senator Babafemi Ojudu, HRM, Oba Ademola Ajakaye, the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Harrison Niyi Alonge, an Ekiti -born Philanthropist and Dr (Barr.) Olumuyiwa Adu (Cubana), a Senatorial Hopeful on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.
Dr Adu was honoured as a POLITICAL ICON of the year in recognition of his contributions to the well-being of the people and his promotion of Democracy.
This recognition from the fourth estate of the realm and from a politically conscious state of Ekiti has further reinforced the acknowledgment of the good deeds of the Oil and gas magnate with legal and military backgrounds beyond the shore of his home State.
In his remarks, Dr. Muyiwa Adu who was highly impressed by the Infrastructural strides of Ekiti State Governor, appreciated the honour accorded him by the professional body and the good people of Ekiti State.
He decried the working environment and other socio- economic factors that have hampered the effective discharge of professional duties of Journalists while underscoring their importance as the mouthpiece of the masses.
“The people in powers are there as trustees and not as the owners so they must judiciously utilize our Commonwealth for the benefits of the citizens”. He sermonised.
He urged the people with means to always give back to the society as all actions will be accounted for on the day of judgment before our Creator.
The organisers expressed their gratitude for Dr Adu’s huge financial assistance to the body and sought a tighter collaboration with them on his political adventures.
