ODIEC ISSUES NOTICE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT POLL
…Invites applications from potential ad-hoc staff for the conduct of exercise
The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC has issued Notice of Poll for the conduct of local government elections for chairmen and councillors positions.
The notice was in accordance with the schedule 4 of local government administration, conduct of local government elections and allied matters law (cap 87), Law of Ondo State.
In the Notice signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Mr Igbekele Jatuwase and made available to the public on the 30th December, 2024, the local government elections will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2025 by 8 o’clock in the morning.
The notice indicates that each voter shall vote where he or she was registered and only person whose name appears on the register of it the voters list and has a valid voter’s card is eligible to vote in the election.
In the meantime, ODIEC says interested applicants can now apply to serve as ad-hoc staff in the Saturday January 18th, 2025 local government elections in the state.
The Electoral body, in a public notice by the Secretary to the Commission, Mr Igbekele Jatuwase invites applications from qualified and suitable candidates for available ad-hoc staff vacancies for the purpose of the conduct of the local government elections.
According to the notice, available positions are Local Government Returning Officers, Ward Returning Officers, Ward Supervisory Returning Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Poll Clerk and Poll Assistant.
The statement notes that interested applicants for the positions of Local Government Returning Officers and Ward Returning Officers are to forward their written application with biodata to the Chairman, ODIEC at Commission’s Headquarters on Oba-Ile road, Akure not later than January 6th, 2025.
Other applicants for other categories are to channel their applications through the Electoral Officers in their respective local government areas to the ODIEC Chairman.
The Commission emphasized that the deadline for the submission of the application remains January 6th, 2025.
