ODIGBO SOCIO- CULTURAL ASSOCIATION HONOURS OLUMUYIWA ADU WITH AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
The Ifesowapo Amuludun Elders and Youth Forum, a conglomerate of all the sub-ethnic groups in Odigbo Local government area has honoured a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Dr(Barrister) Olumuyiwa Adu with an award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding philanthropic gestures.
This was witnessed on Saturday at the annual youth anniversary and award-giving ceremony held at Government field, Ore in Odigbo Local government area of Ondo State.
The event was celebrated to foster unity and promote development in Odigbo land and by extension in the southern senatorial District of Ondo state.
This year’s celebration witnessed attendance of top political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, Captains of industries, Odigbo sons and daughters as well as well-wishers from within and outside the state.
Highlights of the programme included presentation of awards to notable Nigerians with proven track records of excellence, dignity and competence, fund raising, cultural displays and speech making.
Appreciating the organisers of the events for putting up superb coordination, mobilisation and sincerity of purpose, Dr Adu promised his continuous support for Odigbo communities.
He took his time to lecture the guests and the celebrants on the imperatives of restructuring efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and the need to embrace peace among all tribes without discrimination.
He saluted the initiatives of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to ensure peace, improve the economy and infrastructural development in the state.
Presenting the symbols of honour to Dr Olumuyiwa Adu, Chairman of the Youth Forum, Comrade Oladimeji Abimbola described Dr Adu as a great son of the state who has registered his good name on the indelible records of humanity coupled with his outstanding public and private achievements including his enviable level of oration and erudition.
“His cumulative experience in many professions, his extensive network across the nation and his intellectual deposits will contribute, in no small measure, to the societal and democratic growth”. Comrade Oladimeji further added.
During the fund-raising aspect of the event, Dr Adu, in his characteristic gesture, donated an initial sum of 2 million naira to support the association in its efforts to promote the welfare of their members and the development of Odigbo communities.
Dr Adu admonished the residents to always be ready to make sacrifices that can add values to their lives and to the development of the communities they reside.
He also urged the youth to key into the empowerment programmes of government.
Showing appreciation for Dr Adu’s good deeds and support for Governor Aiyedatiwa, Ondo State Women In Politics donated a big portrait to him, mentioning his charitable interventions and his active political roles in the last elections which have endeared the progressive Akure -born politician to all and sundry within a short period of time.
President of the association in the state, Alhaja Mariam Jumoke Afolabi lauded Dr Olumuyiwa Adu’s friendly personality and refined politics.
She said his name has become a household name that has gained huge acceptability among the indigenes and non-indigenes resident in Ondo state as a prominent figure of humility, empathy, godliness and intellectualism.
