ONDO2024: OLABIMTAN DISTANCES SELF FROM VIDEO CIRCULATED BY PDP AND ITS CANDIDATE
—-restates Aiyedatiwa as best choice for the people of Ondo State
A leading light of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State and current Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Ondo State, Rt. Hon. Victor Adekanye Olabimtan has condemned in strong terms the ridiculous and cheap propaganda of the governorship campaign council of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State for releasing a misleading video to deceive the unsuspecting public that he (Olabimtan) has endorsed the candidate of the PDP, Agboola Ajayi, for the November 16, 2024 governorship election in Ondo State.
In a statement by his media team, Olabimtan likened this crude tactics to
a case of a drowning man trying to hold on to anything in sight in his desperation to survive.
According to the statement, the SUBEB boss also noted that the PDP and its candidate are conscious of the fact that they stand no chance against Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa at the poll on November 16, 2024, the obvious reason his handlers are resorting to crude tactics with a view to hoodwinking the unsuspecting electorate through undeserved and unmerited endorsement.
He said as a loyal APC stalwart, he is in full support of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and does not have reason(s) whatsoever to campaign for or endorse the candidate of any other party, least, the PDP.
He therefore advised the PDP, its candidate and campaign council to desist from spreading falsehood.
“A dream of car ownership should not be through armed robbery, if God must be involved. You have no reason to lie or confuse the innocent electorate if your intentions are genuine”, he warned
“It will be recalled that the same video was released and circulated in 2020 when the candidate of the PDP, Agboola Ajayi, contested in Zenith Labour party (ZLP) against his former boss, His Excellency, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, of blessed memory.
“The video was maliciously published back then to confuse the public that Olabimtan, the DG of the APC/ Akeredolu campaign council, endorsed Agboola of ZLP against Akeredolu of APC. Their gimmick failed woefully back then. Unfortunately, they learn no lesson from that fruitless venture”.
“For the record, the purported video was recorded 6 years ago during the 50th birthday of Agboola Ajayi before he parted ways with Governor Akeredolu”.
“Olabimtan praised Agboola during his birthday celebration then as a Deputy to Akeredolu not as an endorsement for governorship or any contest”.
“Olabimtan spoke in good faith about Agboola in the video, however the reality of how his journey with Akeredolu ended negated whatever encomium that was showered on him back then”.
“It is important to consider the context and timing of the speech made by Olabimtan. People’s actions and decisions can change over time, and assessments of them should reflect their current behaviors and choices”.
“When Olabimtan praised Agboola in the past, it was based on his actions at that time. If Agboola later changed direction or made decisions that no longer aligned with those values, Olabimtan’s name shouldn’t be used to confuse the general public”.
“This clarification is necessary to correct the misleading narratives surrounding the trending video. Let us focus on promoting truth, rather than promoting falsehood and engaging in fake propaganda”.
“Olabimtan thanked those who reached out to him with genuine concerns and intentions. He assured his supporters that he is unruffled by this shenanigans because he actually saw it coming. Since the candidate of the PDP and his handlers used the same video back in 2020 when he contested as the candidate of Zenith Labour Party during the second term election of the then governor, he knew that they would still bring it up again this year”.
“Therefore, they just played to the gallery now, but just like they failed in the past, they have failed again. Olabimtan, without mincing words, has declared Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the best option for Ondo State”.
“He urged the people to come out en masse on November 16, 2024 to support the continuity agenda of Aiyedatiwa/ Adelami by voting for the APC. The party to beat”!
