ONDO APC SUSPENDS WARD CHAIRMAN FOR ASSAULTING COMMISSIONER OVER PALLIATIVE DISTRIBUTION
The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has wielded the big stick by commencing disciplinary actions against one of the party’s Ward Chairmen seen physically assaulting the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Bunmi Orisadahunsi in a viral video on Sunday.
For a start, the State APC Secretariat has directed the Ward Leaders to immediately suspend the Ward Chairman, pledging that further disciplinary actions would follow later.
In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, the State APC “condemned in strong terms the crude behaviour and unbelievable level of indisciple exhibited by one of its officers, Mr. Olumide Awolumate.”
According to the statement, the party, in an emergency meeting presided over by the State Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, at the State Secretariat in Akure on Monday, expressed disappointment by the conduct of the Ward Chairman.
“We are still wondering what could have pushed him into exhibiting that degree of primitive affront on a highly placed party chieftain and serving Commissioner”, the party lamented.
The ruling party warned members of its Executive to always embrace civility and self-discipline at all times, stressing that it is expedient to accord respect to party elders and constituted authorities.
The statement further cautioned that it would not condone or encourage any form of unruly behavior or embarrassing conducts from its officers and members.
