
ONDO ASSEMBLY ASSURES CHILDREN PARLIAMENT OF ADEQUATE SUPPORT
In the process of reviving the Ondo State Children Parliament, members of the Ondo State Assembly on Tuesday received members of the parliament at the Assembly Complex in Akure.
The delegation was led by the Special Adviser to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye who was accompanied by the Acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Bishop(Mrs) Oluwaseyi Odusola and directors of the ministry.
On arrival, they were given the opportunity to observe sitting presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji.
Shortly after the sitting, members of the Children Parliament and the entire team proceeded to the Olusegun Agagu Library Complex.
Addressing the gathering, Special Adviser to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye said the visit to the House of Assembly was as a revival of the state Children Parliament which has been neglected and non-existent for twelve years.
She said the visit was to familiarise the children with the processes in a hallowed chamber.
She emphasised that it’s also to ensure that children can contribute meaningfully to the society while they also make case for what affects them .
Dr. Osamaye expressed joy that the purpose of visiting the hallowed chamber was achieved as the young parliamentarians learnt a lot in just a day.
The Special Adviser announced that the revived Children Parliament would be inaugurated on may 27 by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as part of activities marking the 2025 National Children’s Day in the state.
Speaking on behalf the Children Parliament, Samuel Raphael said the visit to the assembly complex was not only an eye opener but also a great opportunity to be aware of the tasks ahead.
He appreciated the Ondo State government for the revival of the Children Parliament which he said would serve as a platform for exposure and an avenue to compliment efforts of government in imparting positively on the lives of the young ones.
Also speaking, representative of Save The Children organisation, Samuel Omede commended Ondo State Government and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the level of encouragement towards the revival of the Children Parliament.
In his response, the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji and other members of the house assured that the legislature would continue to support the Children Parliament.
They urged the young boys and girls to prioritise their education and avoid bullying in schools while they keep making case for issues that will affect the younger generations positively.
