
ONDO ASSEMBLY MEMBERS JOIN GRASSROOTS MOVEMENT FOR TINUBU GROUP
At least nine members of the Ondo State House of Assembly have officially joined the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), signaling growing momentum for the group in the state.
Leading the lawmakers is the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and representative of Ilaje Constituency 1, Hon. Abayomi Akinruntan.
Others include the Deputy Majority Leader and representative of Idanre Constituency, Hon. (Princess) Ogunlowo Oluwatosin Ajirotu, Hon. Afe Felix (Akoko North West II), Hon. Ifabiyi Samuel Olatunde (Odigbo Constituency 1), Hon. Akinsunroju Akindolani Nelson (Ile Oluji/Oke-Igbo), Hon. Bolaji Fatai Atere (Akoko North West Constituency 1), Hon. Oluwatoyin Victor Japhet (Akoko North East), Hon. Kolawole Michael Ologede (Akure North) and Hon. ( Mrs) Morenike Witherspoon (Owo Constituency II).
The GMT State Director-General, Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, made the announcement during a media briefing in Akure on Wednesday following a closed-door meeting with the lawmakers.
He confirmed that the Assembly members have been integrated into both the State Advisory Committee and the State Executive Committee of GMT.
Yusuf-Ogunleye directed local government coordinators to begin working closely with the lawmakers to ensure proper alignment of activities at the grassroots level.
He also revealed that Dr. Akin Awodeyi Apata has been appointed to the State Advisory Committee of GMT and Engr. Sogo Ajikiola as the new Ifedore local government coordinator.
“We are expecting a visit from the National Executive Committee members of GMT in Ondo State very soon,” he stated.
“During the visit, the national officers will meet with the State Advisory and Executive Committees as well as the newly inducted lawmakers. They will also inaugurate state officers and formally commission the GMT state office,” he added.
Yusuf-Ogunleye called on other lawmakers and political officeholders to align with the movement, stressing the importance of mobilizing support for President Tinubu across all levels.
He said: “We appreciate the backing from the APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, and commend the generous financial support from the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
“To those opposing our movement, we urge a change of heart. GMT is committed to promoting the ideals of President Tinubu and deepening grassroots engagement.”
The DG further encouraged market women, party loyalists and friends of President Tinubu, regardless of party affiliation, to join the movement and report any threats to its leadership.
He reaffirmed that the group operates within the bounds of constitutional freedom of association.
