ONDO AT 50: GOVERNMENT TO HONOUR ENERGY EXPERT, PROF ANTHONY ADEGBULUGBE
…Adegbulugbe’s Company, GEIL Built The First Indigenous Onshore Crude Oil Terminal in Nigeria After 50 Years
The Ondo State Government is set to honour her illustrious son and a major player in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and the global community, Prof Anthony Adegbulugbe.
The event slated for February 3rd, 2026 at the International Center for Events and Culture popularly known as The Dome in Akure the state capital is to climax the activities lined-up for the 50th anniversary of the creation of the state.
Ondo State was created on February 3rd, 1976 by the General Murtala Mohammed military regime as part of the princesses to bring government closer to the people.
In a letter signed by the Chairman of the Planning Committee who is also the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti and sighted by this media outfit, the honour is to recognise the various contributions of the Chairman of Green Energy International Limited to the socio-economic and political development of Nigeria and the global community.
In his words, “I have the honour to formally inform you that His Excellency, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved your nomination and conferment with Ondo State Award in recognition of your exceptional contributions to the growth of our state”.
This nomination underscores the high regard in which your efforts are held by the government and the people of the Sunshine State” Dr. Fasoranti added.
Pastor(Prof) Anthony Adegbulugbe is the Chairman of Green Energy International Limited, an oil and gas company that succeeded in building the first Indigenous onshore crude oil terminal in Nigeria after fifty years of relying on the ones built by multinationals.
Professor Adegbulugbe who is a first class product of the prestigious University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) has not only excelled in the academics and oil and gas industry.
The Ondo City-born energy expert is a District Superintendent of the Christ Apostolic Church and Presiding Pastor of Christ Apostolic Church, CITEC Estate in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The serial entrepreneur has served in various capacities including the Special Adviser to the President on Energy and currently the Chancellor of the Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji Arakeji in Osun State.
