The Ondo State Head of Service, Mr Bayo Philip has disclosed the readiness of the state government to give necessary facelift to facilities at the state secretariat annex situated along the Ilesa/Owo expressway in Akure, the state capital.
Philip spoke on Wednesday during an inspection visit to the secretariat annex housing the state Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Directorate of Rural and Community Development, Ondo State Action Committee on Aids, ODSACA, and the State Consumers Protection Agency among others.
While lauding the attitude of workers in the MDAs within the premises, the HOS noted that the government had seen the need to do some renovation work to make the facility more conducive and attractive to workers.
According to him, MDAs in the Secretariat Annex are as important to the state government as those in the main Secretariat and as such will receive deserved attention, adding that efforts were on to add additional buses for the conveyance of workers to and from the annex because of its location peculiarities.
He used the occasion to charge workers to brace up for more efficient service delivery as the government has been doing its part by prompt payment of salaries and timely promotion of deserving officers with accruing financial benefits, urging them to eschew partisan politics as it could be detrimental to their careers.
Philip, however, enjoined them to always adhere to the tenets of the various reform programmes in the service which his leadership has distilled to mean ‘ don’t deliver short, don’t deliver late’.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the state Directorate for Rural and Community Development, Mr Wole Akinkuotu called for intervention of the state government in the area of infrastructure.
He appreciated the Head of Service for deeming it fit to visit them at the annex, saying it would serve as a morale booster for the workers as he promised their continued commitment to service delivery.
According to the Director of Press on the office of the HOS, Sina Adeyeye, the inspection visit also took the HOS to the Public Service Training Institute, PSTI, Ilara-Mokin, Ministry of Infrastructure, Lands and Housing as well as Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, all within the premises of the old Ministry of Works in Akure where he identified with the workers and charged on proper work ethics.
