ONDO INFORMATION COMMISSIONER AJANAKU SETS AGENDA FOR GRASSROOTS-DRIVEN MEDIA ENGAGEMENT
…Pledges Youth Inclusion, Ward-Based Coverage, and Transparent Engagements
The Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Emmanuel Ajanaku, has outlined his strategic vision to reposition the state’s information architecture, promising inclusive, technology-driven communication across all 203 wards in the state.
Speaking on Crest 106.1FM Akure during the Crest Breakfast Show, on special segment titled “One-on-One with the New Commissioners in Ondo State”, Ajanaku expressed gratitude to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to serve the people of the Sunshine State, after years of impactful service in Lagos. He assured citizens that “better days are ahead” under the current administration.
Ajanaku emphasized that his first major assignment is to “restructure, reshape, and reorganize” the Ministry of Information and Orientation to ensure efficient and timely information dissemination. He announced plans to unveil a comprehensive media strategy, which includes the deployment of ICT-savvy youths across all wards to ensure real-time reporting and government feedback. “When government projects go underreported, the people are left in the dark. This administration is set to end that,” he said.
He noted that the Aiyedatiwa administration will avoid propaganda and media warfare, but instead adopt practical pragmatic progressive methods to elevate the media space in the state. Plans are underway to create a mobile app for news gathering, citizen feedback, and prompt government responses.
According to a statement signed by his Information Manager, Abiodun Omotoso, the commissioner announced regular town hall meetings in the three senatorial districts and interactive media sessions where the Governor will engage directly with the people.
On employment and economic growth, Ajanaku spotlighted the administration’s industrialisation agenda part of the OUR EASE blueprint, which includes reviving moribund industries and establishing new ones like the Ondo Sea Port, Okeluse Cement Factory, and a Modular Refinery, aimed at transforming the state from a civil service-dependent economy to an industrial hub.
Assuring media practitioners of open collaboration, Ajanaku pledged robust professional engagement. “My lines are open 24 hours for media practitioners and citizens alike. The media will be fully carried along. We’re planning a ‘Media World Press Conference’ soon, where we’ll unveil our full media roadmap,” he concluded.
