ONDO LG POLL: POLICE ORDERS RESTRICTION OF MOVEMENT
In preparation for the Local Government Election scheduled to take place in Ondo State on Saturday, January 18, 2025, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olutokunbo Afolabi, has announced a restriction on vehicular and motorcycle movements within the state.
This announcement was made in a statement signed by CSP Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ondo State Command.
According to the statement, the restriction will be enforced from 6.00am to 4.00pm on the election day to ensure the safety and security of the electoral process.
Residents and commuters intending to pass through the state during this period are advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
However, essential service providers, including security personnel, medical staff, health workers, and firefighters, are exempted from the restriction and will be allowed free movement to carry out their critical duties. Emergency cases will also be considered for exemption.
The Ondo State Police Command urges eligible voters to comply with all regulations guiding the election while exercising their civic rights.
In addition, the Command has issued a stern warning to individuals intending to disrupt the process, emphasising that measures are in place to swiftly address any threats to the smooth conduct of the elections.
CP Afolabi assured the public that adequate security arrangements have been made to protect both human and material resources, ensuring a peaceful and orderly electoral process.
The Command reaffirms its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the election period.
