
Ondo State Ministry of Health has inaugurated and trained members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Quality of Care on the global concept of quality of care improvement in the health system.
The programme which was organised in partnership with JHPIEGO is an action to help in healthcare service delivery which improves patient level experiences of service delivery point.
It will also empower the system to respond and meet the needs of the state to get quality and affordable care at all levels.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Banji Awolowo Ajaka while inaugurating the group said the Technical Working Group committee is to critically look at the services provision practices, guage the experiences of the clients and explore best practices across the world.


Dr Ajaka explained that the Technical Committee will also advise and support the development of a responsive system of care that would enhance the quality of life for the entire people of the State
The Technical Working Group Committee which is headed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health has Directors of Family Health, Hospital Services, Public Health, Nursing Services, Epidemiology and Disease Control, Pharmaceutical Services, Planning Research and Statistics, State HMIS Officers and Reproductive Health Officer as members.
Other representatives were drawn from the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Hospitals Management Board, UNIMED and the State Contributory Health Commission.
The Commissioner thereby urged members of the committee to work together in order to come up with framework for improving quality of care in the health sector in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist (Mrs) Folukemi Aladenola in her welcome address said the inauguration of the committee is timely considering the current challenges being faced within the health sector as a nation
Aladenola noted that technical stakeholders are to provide technical guidance in conducting an objective evaluation of the continuity of care process and experience of the clients as well as advise the decision makers on how to improve the health system as a whole thereby improving the quality of life of the people of the state.

The Permannent Secretary stated that the Ministry of Health is in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health, USAID through JHPIEGO which is to build the capacities on current trends in quality of care.
She therefore admonished the participants to take the bits of the knowledge during the training while also enriching the discussion.
She appreciated the Governor Of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN for his support for the health sector in the state
The Representative of JHPIEGO, Mrs Elizabeth Chukwu said the inauguration of the Ouality of Care Technical Working Group is to give leadership to quality of care of which without it there wont be policy body as well as officers to champion the cause of Quality of care.
She added that this will help in monitoring implementation and also ensuring that they follow laid down standard and strategies to reduce maternal, newborn and child deaths drastically.
She explained that the main focus of the Technical Working Group is to serve as the policy working body and coordinate the implementation at the state and local government levels and all the health facilities where the quality of care is being implemented
She emphasized that the quality of care has come to stay as JHPIEGO is working to support the state to be self reliant in order to be able to have the capacity to own the project.
