ONDO N-SIP FOCAL PERSON ADEMOSU CHARGES WOMEN TO BE INVOLVED IN SOCIO-POLITICAL ACTIVITIES
The Focal Person of the National Social Investment Programmes in Ondo State, Dr.(Mrs) Olubunmi Ademosu has charged women in the state to be involved in various activities that are capable of imparting on the society.
Dr. Ademosu who was speaking with newsmen on the occasion of the 2023 International Women’s Day in Akure said there are various platforms through which they could participate in societal development.
The Focal Person said women in Ondo State have been playing significant roles in ensuring that they are counted worthy in the process of moving the state and the nation forward.
Ademosu stated that the volume of women involved in the implementation of the components of the National Social Investment Programmes is an encouragement that a lot could still be achieved.
She stated that over 1,500 women are currently engaged as cooks in the execution of the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme while a large number of ladies have benefited from the N-power programme, out of which a large number have become PhD holders.
Ademosu said the Conditional Cash Transfer programmme has aslo been beneficial to women in the state, assuring that such would be sustained if they continue to be involved in government activities and programmes.
The Focal Person who is also the Special Adviser to Governor on Public and Integovernmental Relations called on women to be involved in political activities, noting that involvement in such would make them more relevant in the scheme of things.
She called on women to keep playing positive domestic roles, noting that the quality of homes produced would determine the kind of the nation that would be produced.
Speaking on the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day which is “Embrace Equity”, the Special Adviser emphasized that “equity isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s a must-have”.
“A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society’s DNA and it’s critical to understand the difference between equity and equality”, Ademosu added.
