
ONDO NPC FEDERAL COMMISSIONER KEMI IYANTAN SOLICITS TRADITIONAL RULERS’ SUPPORT AHEAD CENSUS
… Visits Olubaka, Oba Adebori Adeleye and Olukare, Oba Akadiri Momoh

The federal commissioner representing Ondo State in National Population Commission, Mrs. Kemi Iyantan has continued to solicit the support of traditional authorities and residents of the state towards achieving a successful census.
This was as the federal commissioner led management of the commission to Akoko Southwest and Akoko Northeast local government areas of the state.
The advocacy visit took Mrs. Iyantan and her team to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Akadiri Momoh, Olukare of Ikare-Akoko.
The palace was filled with High Chiefs and the people of Ikare kingdom who were visibly enthusiastic to partner the commission ahead of the forthcoming census.
Addressing the gathering, the federal commissioner enlightened them on the need to be actively involved in proper documentation of citizens according to their age group and social status.
Mrs Iyantan also also emphasized the need for birth certificate for new-born babies and death certificate for the deceased, stating that sharing of national resources by the government is based on the available population data provided by the NPC.
She urged traditional authorities, opinion leaders and entire people of Ikare-Akoko and Akoko Northeast local government area to mobilise the people and enlighten them on the importance of the exercise.
The federal commissioner urged them to come out in large numbers to participate and cooperate with personnel of National Population Commission when the census exercise officially starts.
In their responses, High Chief Olufesobi Olaide suggested that the commission should request for a land space to erect a permanent office for the commission in Akoko North-East Local Government while Chief Balogun J.S also attested to the fact that Ikare is highly populated and pledged to support the commission throughout the exercise.
Mrs Iyantan and her team also visited Oka Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko Southwest local government area.
The NPC team was received at the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, Olubaka of Oka Akoko where the High Chiefs commended the federal commissioner for carrying various segments of the society along.
In his response, the Olubaka of Okaland, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye congratulated Mrs Olukemi Iyantan on her appointment as the Federal Commissioner for National Population Commission in Ondo State.
Oba Adeleye who also highlighted the importance of the exercise assured that the people of the area would be mobilised and enlightened to participate fully in the exercise.
The advocacy tour was rounded off with interaction with personnel of the commission in the local government areas where Mrs. Iyantan urged them to prepare ahead of the National Population Census.
