ONDO PDP GROUP FAULTS IBADAN CONVENTION, DESCRIBES EVENT AS PARTY’S ‘FUNERAL’
The Kick Against Deceit (KADec) PDP Group in Ondo State has expressed deep worry about the likely survival of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after the just concluded Ibadan convention describing it as the last sips from its cup just as Christ”s disciples took the last supper with Him at the Upper Room.
In a statement signed by the group’s Protem Director, Hon Bamidele Ojo, it observed that “as the Last Supper commemorated Jesus’ Last Meal with his disciples before His betrayal, the Ibadan convention also signified the last cash out by those who have betrayed and sold the soul of the party to the highest bidders”.
The group expressed concern that the once-blossoming platform may not be able to resurrect because, “this time around, the deep betrayal came from the core leaders of the Party”.
“KADec notes that if not because the party had been irretrievably sold, the organizers of the Ibadan Convention ought to have applied caution by postponing the convention to find a way out of the many encumbrances including several court judgements, absence of several State chapters and notable leaders of the party at the ill-fated convention”.
While noting that the National Convention of the Party remains the highest organ of the Party which decisions and resolutions override any other organs’ decision, the group harped on the validity of the convention which invariably questions whatever resolutions that might have been made at the event, insisting that something cannot be built on nothing.
The Group wondered why the organizers of the Party’s convention still went ahead with the convention even when its own National Organizing Committee Chairman, H.E Rt Hon Ahmadu Fintiri had, by his withdrawal, cast aspersion on the morality, validity and veracity of the Convention.
“The rejection of some major decisions by some Governors at the convention equally dealt a serious blow to the expected unity, togetherness and public acceptability of the programme thereby subjecting the platform to avoidable public ridicule and mockery”.
“KADec reminds those whose agenda was to do the last cash out to remember what happened to Judas the betrayer in the Bible who also played a similar role at the Last Supper, leading to the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ”.
“We are insisting that similar consequences await those who used the convention for their last cash out at the party’s funeral ceremony in Ibadan Oyo State, Honourable Bamidele Ojo added.
