ONDO POLICE GO AFTER PARENT, THUGS WHO BRUTALISED VICE PRINCIPAL FOR PREVENTING CHILD FROM CHEATING IN WAEC EXAM
The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the assault on the Vice Principal of Complete Child Development Center, Awule, Akure.
The victim was allegedly beaten by thugs hired by a parent whose child was disallowed from cheating during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to the Director of Schools, Ondo State Ministry of Education, the incident started when an android phone was found with a student, contrary to school rules. The Vice Principal seized the phone, leading to a confrontation with the student’s mother and brother, who threatened to deal with him. Later, some boys waylaid the Vice Principal and beat him up.
The Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical teams to arrest those involved.
The Ondo State Police Spokesman, Olayinka Ayanlade said, “the operation has been taken over by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations to ensure proper coordination and prevent further breakdown of law and order.
“The Commissioner of Police urges law-abiding residents to remain calm and go about their businesses without fear.
The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are on top of the situation, working to ensure the safety of staff and students of the school for the remaining WASSCE papers.
“The police are working to apprehend the culprits, and arrangements are ongoing to ensure the safety of the school community. The Vice Principal has been discharged from the hospital but is still recuperating due to fear of further attacks.”
