ONDO POLICE OFFICERS WHISKED TO ABUJA OVER EXTORTION
No fewer than six officers of the Ondo State Police Command have been whisked to Abuja following a video that went viral on social media.
An officer attached to the Special Intervention Squad in Akure the state capital had allegedly obtained an undisclosed amount of money from another Nigerian to provide an influence in a matter.
The officer simply identified as ‘Oloriebi’ had allegedly taken the man to the back of their office located at Alagbaka but unknowingly, a third party was recording the video of the transaction.
In the video, the officer was seen counting the money suspected to have been received from the other man as he stood before him for confirmation.
After the video went viral, a signal was reportedly sent to the Ondo State Command that the woman heading the team(names withheld) and her team should be made available in Abuja.
Naijaparrots gathered that they have since been taken to Abuja.
Investigations by Naijaparrots showed that colleagues and and friends in the state are already expressing fears over what could be the outcome.
“My fear is that with the degree of zero tolerance for extortion by our leadership, anything can be the outcome of this as many have been either dismissed or demoted for similar offences”, a colleague said.
