ONDO REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE AS NEW ACADEMIC SESSION BEGINS
As schools across Ondo State resumed for the 2025/2026 academic session, the Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan embarked on an inspection tour of selected schools to assess the level of preparedness of teachers and learners.
Speaking during the monitoring exercise, the Chairman charged teachers to demonstrate dedication by being regular and punctual in their duties, noting that “quality teaching and learning can only take place when teachers lead by example.”
He emphasized the determination of the present administration to create conducive learning environments across all basic schools in the state.
Highlighting specific interventions, the Chairman announced that Medayese Primary School Annex will soon undergo total reconstruction to ensure that children in the catchment area have access to functional and standard public school facilities.
At SUBEB Model Primary School, Agagu Road, the Chairman disclosed government’s plan to acquire additional plots of land adjacent the school premises for the construction of more classrooms.
According to him, the measure has become necessary because the existing facilities can no longer accommodate the growing population of pupils.
He further noted that during the long vacation, SUBEB management embarked on an enrollment drive to mobilize parents and guardians to enroll their children in public primary schools.
This initiative, replicated across the 18 local government areas of the state, has led to an impressive increase in enrollment figures and reinforced government’s drive to expand access to quality basic education.
The Chairman reaffirmed government’s resolve to continue investing in infrastructure, manpower development and innovative learning strategies to ensure that public schools remain the foundation for a brighter future for every child in Ondo State.
> “The vision of Mr. Governor is to leave no child behind in the quest for functional and qualitative basic education. We are committed to actualizing this through infrastructure upgrade, teacher motivation, and sustained community engagement,” the Chairman stated.
He therefore called on parents, teachers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to support government’s efforts in strengthening the basic education sector, adding that collective responsibility remains key to achieving the desired transformation.
