
ONDO SET TO EMPOWER 200 WIDOWS WITH N50,000 GRANTS
As part of his administration’s “Our Ease” Agenda of inclusivity, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the empowerment of two hundred widows with a sum of N50,000 grants each and skill acquisition training to mark the 2025 International Widows Day celebration.
The programme which will take place on Wednesday 2nd July, 2025 is aimed at equipping widows with essential skills to make them self-reliant and sustainable.
According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs & Social Development and Commissioner- Designate, Dr Seun Osamaye, the empowerment programme will cut across various sectors in the 18 local government areas of the state.
The statement adds that the beneficiaries will include widows of former government officials, members of the House of Assembly, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Para-Millitary Officers, civil servants and other stakeholders.
The theme of this year’s celebration, “Empowering Widows: Building Resilience, Restoring Dignity,” aligns with the state’s commitment to supporting widows and promoting their economic empowerment.
The programme is expected to have positive impact on the lives of the beneficiaries, enabling them to become self-sufficient and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
The Statement concludes by appreciating the Governor of Ondo State for his welfarist approach to governance by prioritizing the welfare of the vulnerable.
