ONDO TEACHERS RECRUITMENT: CONFUSION AS APPLICANTS FAIL TO GET CERTIFICATE OF STATE
There are palpable fears among applicants seeking employment in Ondo State through the state universal basic education board, SUBEB as they find it extremely difficult to obtain certificate of state, as demanded by the board.
Hundreds of applicants from the 18 local government areas of the state who had thronged Akure, the state capital for the certificate were disappointed as they complained of cumbersomeness.
Their inability to obtain the certificate had sent jittery down their spines as they believed this could jeopardize the oral interview billed to begin on Tuesday 25th June, 2024.
Over eight thousand applicants were shortlisted to participate in the oral interview.
Each applicant is to obtain the certificate with two thousand naira (₦2, 000.00) amounting to sixteen million naira (₦16, 000.000.000).
An applicant from Akoko said “I came very early this morning for the certificate, but as at 4pm I can’t get it. It has been from one complaint to another.”
“We were asked to visit cabinet office to generate payment advice, from there to make payment in either Wema bank or Providous bank and later to revenue unit at ODIRS to get receipt which we ‘ll again to back to the cabinet Office for the certificate.”
“The major challenge we are confronted with is poor network. I have gone through hell at the bank today.”
“We have our oral interview tomorrow Tuesday, and I don’t know if the certificate is a condition to participate in the exercise.”
Another applicant who came from Okitipupa and didn’t want his name mentioned decried the process of obtaining the certificate.
“I have never heard of certificate of state before, what I’m used to is certificate of origin. Even, at that, the process of obtaining the form left much to be desired.”
“Now, I’m returning to Okitipupa without getting the form. I want to believe this is not part of the screening.”
“Those who were successful are not up to one percent of the applicants who came for the form.” He said
They appealed to the state governor to wade into the matter so that competent and qualified applicants would not be deprived.
No fewer than 30,000 applicants obtained the SUBEB form and were pruned to over 8,000
