
OVER 16,000 TO BENEFIT FROM FG’S DISBURSEMENT OF DEBIT CARDS IN ONDO – NOA
No fewer than 16,000 individuals have been earmarked to benefit in the first batch in 2025 Social Investment Programme across the 18 local governments area of Ondo State.
This was made known today at a stakeholders meeting in Akure on disbursement of Debit cards to Renewed Hope Beneficiaries under the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme of NSIP in Ondo State.
The programme which was renewed by the President Tinubu’s administration under the National Social Safety NET Coordinating Office (NASSCO), Abuja in collaboration with the Ondo State Public and Intergovernmental Relations office has captured about 12,867 beneficiaries and 3,388 outstanding beneficiaries in 2024 exercise to receive disbursement of Debit cards in the state.
The State Director of Ondo NOA, Mr James Adekunle shortly after the meeting commended the State govt for working hard towards achieving the set goal, charging coordinating Unit not to relent in ensuring that the downtrodden further feel the impact of the programme.
The director posited that the programme is all about reaching out to the poor and vulnerable in the society and affirmed that the programme has been very effective in the last two years of President Bola Tinubu’s administration as a lot of people have benefitted in the programme. Mr Adekunle disclosed that the office of Public and Intergovernmental Relations has concluded arrangements for the disbursement of the debit cards to the beneficiaries in the single register of the poor and vulnerable households across the 18 local governments areas of the State.
According to the Permanent Secretary of Public and Intergovernmental Relations office of Ondo State, Mrs Pirisola revealed that officers deployed from Abuja for the disbursement have arrived the State and every logistics have been deployed to make the disbursement process a seamless exercise. She recalled that the programmes under the NSIP are Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), the Home Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSF), Funds for the vulnerable Group and N-Power.
According to a statement signed by Ralph Oguntibeju of NOA, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Youth Empowerment and Job Creation, Ambassador Orioye Gbayisemore during the meeting disclosed that the Governor, H.E. Hon Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa is expected to flag off the disbursement of the Debit cards to the beneficiaries immediately after the June 12 democracy day celebration public holiday.
