The Convener of Ibi Giga Ambassadors and one of the leading aspirant in the just concluded primary election of APC in Ondo North Senatorial Districts, Chief Dr Alex Ajipe , has condemned the early Sunday morning bandits attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in Owo Local Government Area that led to the killing of several people.
Ajipe in a statement in Akure on Sunday by his Media Aide Solomon Adewoye described the killing as terribly inhuman and barbaric saying the perpetrators must not go unpunished.
Ajipe said the killing of innocent worshippers by unidentified gunmen, is not only devastating and despicable but has become a new dimension of terrorism in the country.
According to him “This dastardly act further confirms the fear of the insecurity of life and property by law abiding citizens.”
The Owo born politician also urged the federal and state governments to find lasting solutions to the incessant killings in Kidnaping in the country.
“I am saddened over the killing of my people in Owo today. It is barbaric and I call upon the security agencies in the state as a Matter of urgency to fish out the perpetrators.
“I condemn in totality these senseless killings and call on both the Federal and Ondo State Governments to wake up and take serious their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and properties in the state.”
Ajipe acknowledged the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari and the security agencies in Ondo state but pointed out that much still need to be done in the area of security in the country.
He further commended the Ondo State Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the job well done on security in the state through AMOTEKUN calling on the federal government to support the state in order to arrest the perpetrators
“I call on people of the state to put politics behind them and collectively emancipate the citizenry from the trouble that is enveloping us.
“As an ardent member of the All Progressives Congress, I plead with the APC led Federal government to take more proactive steps in bringing the resurging security situation in Nigeria and Ondo state in particular under control. Ajipe said
Ajipe however commiserated with the Christian community, the Olowo of Owo, entire Owo people and especially the Catholic bloc whose brethren experienced the havoc
