The candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the House of Representatives election for Oye/Ikole Federal Constituency in the 2023 elections, Hon. Bimbo Daramola has kicked off his campaign with a visit to traditional authorities as well as artisans in the area.
The visit which took the Congressman and his supporters to the palace of Onire of Ire Kingdom, Oba Victor Bobade, the Okeoro 1 and the Onire-in-Council was initially made a private affair to ensure a quiet time with the traditional authorities but the personality of the candidate made it a public issue.

In his words, “I was in the national assembly and our youths and the elderly could attest to how far we have gone in creating enabling environment for the people and we are assuring that more ideas have been created to justify what we represent”.
“We have no power of our own but our eyes are on God and we know He knows our beleaguered people and wants a better life for them such as we did before and from good health to new job opportunities without leaving out medical interventions, physical development of our towns in the constituency, and of course legislative activism as a potent tool”, Daramola added.

Oba Bobade also emphasized the revamping efforts to get the Ire Burnt Bricks Factory back up and running and several job placements for many young people without forgetting the 32- bed hospital, which he said has also been designated as a centre for screening of women for cancer!
The Onire stressed that the existence of the hospital has not only assisted in attending to basic health matters as well as cancer screening exercises.
The meeting ended with prayers by Asaba of Ire and Eyelaje for protection, preservation and provision and victory at the election come February as they also called on all stakeholders to play the game according to the rules.
Party leaders observed the track record that was visible over the previous eleven years and even before and after leaving position which had been impartful in the society.

All work and no play, they say makes Jack a dull boy as the events were rounded off with an unscheduled visit to a pounded yam joint as it became an open lunch which involved members of the society as well as the party.
